Latin name: Guibourtia demeusei, Guiburtia tessmannii, Guiburtia pellegriniana
Origin: West Africa
Characteristics: Shimmering brown to violet-red heartwood. Quarter cut is plainer, while rotary cut is often figured and vibrant although some quartered logs are figured and quite stunning. The rotary figured material is often called “waterfall “because of it brilliance and depth.
Uses: High quality architectural woodwork, fine furniture, and aircraft interiors.
