Maple, Burl
Latin name: Acer macrophyllum
Origin: West coast of the United States
Characteristics: The veneer ranges from white to off white cream color. The burl pattern is medium to small in scale. Root burls frequently have bark pockets making sound large burls hard to find and very expensive. Cluster burls are taken from the trunk wood and have more swirl than burl and the burls is in patches scatter across the face of having “angel steps” or “butt figure”.
Use: Architectural woodwork and fine furniture.
