Characteristics: The heartwood is red-brown to orange-brown with darker brown streaks. Under a finish it resembles American black cherry in color, grain, and texture. The surface is slightly lustrous and occasionally oily. Availability is limited due to lack of demand but there is some availability in quarter cut.

Use: Architectural woodwork and furniture.
