Latin name: Diospyros virginiana

Origin: Central and Southern United States

Characteristics: Consists almost entirely of straw colored sapwood, the heartwood is a small central core of dark brown or black. Grain is straight and the texture is fine and even.

Use: Inlays and cabinetry.
