Pine, Knotty

Latin name: Pinus strobes, Pinus ponderosa

Origin: Northwestern United States

Characteristics: Color is light yellow to white. Knotty variety comes from second growth timber with more branches, giving the desired character of tight, red knots. Knotty pine was one of the most popular softwood veneers but has recently fallen out of favor.

Use: Rustic woodwork, fine furniture and cabinetry.
