Over 2,500 years ago an Ash log fell into a peat bog to be submerged until 2018. The extremely low oxygen conditions of the bog protected the wood from normal decay, while the underlying peat provided acidic conditions where iron salts and other minerals reacted with the tannins in the wood, gradually giving log #24 distinct coloring and contrast. The fiddleback figure is bonus feature that is sure to catch any eye.
