~2700 Year Old Ancient Bog Oak

The Veneer Source has recently partnered to produce an ancient ~ 2700-year-old Bog Oak log. The material has a vivid taupe/grey color and the grain has depth and contrast to it that would be beautiful as architectural paneling, casework or furniture.

Time Period History: The 7th century BC spanned the years 700 through 600 BC. This time period had a major impact on human culture; the Chinese invented printing, the first metal coins were used by the Lydians of western Anatolia and allegedly iron was discovered in China. The Assyrian Empire dominated the Near East during this century, exercising formidable power over neighbors like Babylon and Egypt. The Assyrians left the world stage permanently when their capital Nineveh was destroyed in 612 BC. These events gave rise to the Neo-Babylonian Empire, which would dominate the region for much of the following century.

Birdseye Maple

10' Length AAA Quality Birdseye Maple

Two flitches with 6,735sf of top quality veneer available.

Sometimes unfavorable growing conditions create some of the most beautiful veneer. That is the case with our new parcel of Birdseye Maple. Attempts to start numerous new buds to collect more sunlight are aborted leaving many tiny knots behind. When sliced into veneer those knots create incredible depth and movement in the grain. See photos below and contact your TVS Representative for more information.
